- Operations Manager-Wastewater
Description
The Water Authority of the Cayman Islands is seeking a qualified individual to manage the Operations-Wastewater Division, which is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Authority’s wastewater infrastructure, comprising the wastewater collection system (approximately 20km of gravity main, 17 lift stations and 300 service connections) and the wastewater treatment plant (a SBR plant with a design treatment capacity of 9,500m3/day (2.5MGD)).
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- A minimum of 5 years hands-on knowledge and experience in the operation and maintenance of wastewater collection systems and wastewater treatment plants at a professional level, and at least 3 years supervisory experience.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering is preferred.
- The highest level of Wastewater Treatment/Collection System Operator Certification offered where resident or most recent place of work (Class IV or equivalent).
- Experience in materials, methods, practices and equipment used in the operation and preventative maintenance of wastewater collection systems and wastewater treatment plants (e.g. submersible pumps, diffusers, blowers, SCADA, online monitoring systems and related software) is essential.
- A well-rounded knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering and a good understanding of wastewater treatment biology, simple chemical and bacteriological testing, mathematical principles, occupational hazards and standard safety precautions.
- Proficiency in using personal computers for various business applications, including spreadsheets and databases; and experience with relevant automated management systems used in the efficient operation and management of a medium-sized wastewater treatment facility.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and to provide direction and training to less experienced personnel in the operation and maintenance of wastewater collection and treatment systems.
The Water Authority offers competitive salaries, an international medical insurance plan, pension plan and generous vacation benefits. The salary range for this position is US$100,800 - $126,000 per annum.
