CAD Designer responsibilities include gathering drawings and specifications, calculating material and equipment requirements, and setting up production methods for water and wastewater facilities.  Project management includes new commercial account installations.  This job requires interaction within the operations and construction departments of Quadvest, LP in a team environment to create multi-discipline design packages for construction.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create detailed designs with computer-aided design (CAD) software for water plant construction/permits, wastewater treatment plant construction/permits, and operator maps.
  • Handle complex designing and drafting assignments under minimal supervision.
  • Collect data in the field to be incorporated into drawings.
  • Create accurate CAD drawings from hand sketches, written and verbal specifications obtained from Engineer and site visits.
  • Work with Engineer regarding drawing accuracy, design, drafting standards and design documentation.
  • Work closely with Engineer, Construction Coordinators and Operations to ensure coordination design effort is maintained.
  • Create, edit, and update standard details for use in projects.
  • Complete project responsibilities within scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Review drawings for completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain all revisions of project drawings.
  • Update and maintain drafting log.
  • Examine and check engineering drawings for compliance with cited specifications and Quadvest standards.
  • Work with Business Development on new commercial accounts including obtaining permits, review of developers’ drawings for conformance to Quadvest standards and planning/oversight of installation.
  • Provide timely technical assistance and solutions to the team.
  • Participate in project meetings and conference calls as required.
  • Create bid forms for projects.
  • Assist engineer with the creation of AFE documents.

Key Performance Indicators

  1. Effectively communicate to Management, Customer Service and Operations on status of drawings.
  2. Effectively prioritize commercial construction milestones with Quadvest operations and developer deliverables.


Education & Experience

  • Hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • A passion for doing high quality work.
  • The ability to think critically, innovate, and solve challenging technical problems.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Effective time management and logical decision-making ability.
  • Being able to self-start and self-motivate when there is no one available to provide instruction.
  • Proven work experience as a Designer or similar role.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.

Language/Math/Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Computer Skills

  • Proficient in current release of AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to see 20-20 when corrected.
  • Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a clerical nature.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers.

Working Environment

  • Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
  • Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
  • Regular work schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • No overnight travel by land and/or air.
