Drafting Technician
Overview
Drafting Technicians create, maintain, and facilitate access to engineering documentation and drawings for District assets, equipment, and facilities including but not limited to hydro power generation plants, electrical transmission and distribution systems, fiber optic distribution systems, parks, fish hatchery facilities, water/wastewater systems, and general office facilities.
Responsibilities
- Generate and maintain engineering documentation such as drawings or models
- Research, retrieve, collect, and file engineering documentation products as requested by District Staff.
- Conduct, or assist with, field data collection and/or validation.
- May assist surveyors with field work and development of topographical maps.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
- Complete all required training.
- Comply with District policies.
- Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC).
- Employees with access to confidential employee records and information are required to restrict access from any unauthorized person, except on a need to know basis.
- As a secondary function, drive a motorized vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the District.

Qualifications
Education
- 1 year Post-secondary One (1) year of academic drafting from a college or technical school. required.
Experience
- 1 year experience performing engineering drafting or similar duties using AutoDESK based software required.
Skills and Abilities
A fully skilled incumbent will have the following knowledge skills & abilities:
- Functional knowledge of drafting terminology, principles, techniques, software, and equipment including 2D and 3D drafting and modeling environments. Experience with AutoDesk products is required.
- Ability to ensure data uniformity by applying drafting or modeling standards. Experience working in a production drafting environment is preferred.
- Ability to accurately transfer markups and other data from as-built or field-edited drawings to primary data sources.
- Ability to perform arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual is required to use general office equipment including computers, printers, plotters, scanners, copy machines and other miscellaneous office equipment.
- Incumbents are also required to be able to use AutoDESK software and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.
